riding my bike, ross, is the absolute best part of my day. no matter what's going on in my world, when i hop on my bike things completely fall into place. i believe it's called perspective. my mind is cleared of clutter, my heart settles on lovely thoughts and my imagination begins to swell to no end. it's a beautiful thing pedaling along, heart and lungs pumping. it's like magic. so i'd just like to say thanks, to my bike, ross, for carrying me in such a delightful way to my destination each day.

golden bike cruise

the last tuesday of each month, pull up in front of woody's pizza in golden, CO, on your bike and everyone will notice. the golden bike cruise is a super fun social event that lets everyone show off their pride and joy and toss back a few.

my friends at Au (anderson united) invited me down a few weeks ago. they set up their van, Art Van DeLay, to sell their t-shirts, buttons, bags and art work and it's a pretty nifty set up they've got goin'. not to mention their van is a BE-ute. (pretty like deer cards are on display on the window). you gotta check it out sometime. nothing like an evening ride with people who love their bikes as much as you love yours.

my little friend, madeline, just started her own fashion-inspired blog. she's one of the most creative little peeps i know. she's got amazing style. her talent is going to take her places. a fab musician and singer, she's definitely one to watch. then, when she plays red rocks you can be all like, "i heard of her when she was only 14." really impress your friends. so when your in a slump with your wardrobe, check out up and away and get some cool fashion ideas (she loves to shop at goodwill so she's all about low-budget, reuse/recycle, environmentally conscience, don't-let-the- economy-get-you-down kind of attitude.) peace.

it's been a while since my last post and while this subject matter isn't very exciting, at least it'll make me feel like i haven't completely ignored design deer. i've only had time for the day job and my teaching at night so PLD production has been on the back burner. at work we needed to encourage students to not wait until the last minute to sign up for classes so we're putting up different signs around campus to encourage said behavior. these are what I came up with (my boss is always quoting Spinal Tap so i need to give him props for inspiring the Nigel Tufnel ref.) not all the signs will be used, my sarcastic voice isn't always appreciated by the higher ups (whomever they are). speaking of disappointing the higher ups, the underwear ad which rose a big stink is winning an award. i'm going to kansas city next week for that. puts a nice spin on the whole experience. small taste of poetic justice for the little guy (or gal rather).

This week is World Kindness Week. Being kind. It's so simple. Yet we tend to go through our days without expressing it or acknowledging it. We get wrapped up in our own time and space and don't stop to think what someone else might be experiencing. Paying attention as we move through this world is a part of embracing life. Noticing the opportunities to express kindness could be the single most important thing you do in your lifetime. Making someone smile, catching someone off guard with your kindness creates a flow that continues on from person to person, ultimately creating a better world. Swallow up this mentality. Take it with you as you go about your day, just for one day, be aware and see what happens to your mind and heart.
